Swimming school (3-5 years)

We have the same basic objective for teaching children how to swim regardless of age. However, it can be a challenge in different ways with children in the age group 3-5 years, because they often are developing strong wills of their own and may not want to do exactly what the instructor suggests.

In order to meet the special challenges that the age group presents, we have clear routines where we always start and end the lessons in the same way. We work on swimming longer distances, rotate to our backs to float and rest, and rotate back to continue swimming. The children can start using their arms more effectively than before and the kicks become progressively more effective. We also start practicing coming up to take air to be able to increase the swimming distances.

Children of these ages enjoy jumping, crawling, going down the water slide. We combine the important exercises with lots of play, as learning is more effective when it is enjoyable.

We also organise parts of our lessons in "stations", using image-based communication, where you can choose exercises based on what your child is most excited to do at the moment.

If you start as a beginner and are between 1 and 2 years old, the level is called Stingray (Rocka), and if you are between 3 and 5 years old, the beginner's group is called Crab (Krabba).
